Kenneth George Millett's Obituary
Kenneth George Millett wore many hats in his seventy-five years. He was a brother, a husband, a father, a Pop-Pop, a master craftsman and builder. He was an artist, a rock hound, and bowl maker. Kenneth was an award-winning photographer and jewelry maker, a marathoner, and a passionate hiker who scaled canyons and stood in awe at natural arches. His jeep, sleeping bag, tent, hiking boots, trekking poles, pocketknife, and camera were his prized possessions. Kenneth was a strong willed jokester, who enjoyed taking photos and playing card games with his beloved grandchildren. Kenneth was a Christian and a Marine, serving in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Kenneth grew up in Benbrook, TX and the Marines took him to Marietta, GA where he met the love of his life, Stephanie. Their first date was on Valentine’s Day in 1971. Three months later, on May 15, 1971, he and Stephanie married. Shortly after, they moved to Longview, TX. Three years later, they welcomed their son Michael. In 1977, their daughter Catherine completed the family. On February 15, 1987, Stephanie went to heaven. Kenneth and his wife are now reunited and celebrated Christmas together for the first time in 32 years. Other loved ones who greeted Kenneth in Heaven are his brothers Robert (Bobby) and Richard (Dickie), and his dear mother Ruth.
Loved ones that will miss Kenneth until they meet again are his father Bernard and his wife Marie; his son, Michael and his wife Miranda; his daughter, Catherine, her husband Jeff Wilson and their three children, Stephanie, Grace, and Micah; his brother John and his wife Mary Beth, and his sister Janet and her husband Gary Munion.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the National Park Foundation or The East Texas Camera Club (Mail to Smith Baptist Association, 3226 Old Jacksonville Rd, Tyler, TX 75701).
Kenneth’s favorite activites in life involved woodworking and the outdoors where he would photograph God’s natural wonders and sights.
Visitation will be at 11 AM on Saturday, December 29, at the Rader Funeral Home in Longview, TX. Services will be at noon.
