Keith Allan Oliver's Obituary
On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, Keith Allan Oliver, a beloved husband, step-dad to four and papaw of seven, passed away. He was 66 years old. Born to Lyle and Juanita Oliver in Houston, Texas. Keith was a Veteran, where he spent five years protecting our country and traveling all over the world in the U.S. Navy. After leaving the Navy, he worked as a bank manager and then account manager in Houston, Texas. It was during this time when he met his wife, Angela. After two years, they married in 2003. Where he had the honor of becoming a step-dad to her children. In 2005, with the support of his family, he decided to get his teaching certification. It was during his time at Gladewater High School, teaching theater, that he and his wife had the honor and privilege of adding Bre to their family.
An avid history buff and theater major, he spent 16 years sharing his passion with students. He was named Disney’s Teacher of the Year during his time teaching in Houston. He retired from Gladewater ISD, where he was loved and respected by students and staff. Furthering his education and passion for education, he graduated from Lamar University with a Master’s Degree in Education. He aspired to use his education to become a Master Teacher, where he could use his education and experience to help teachers expand their craft.
Keith also loved science fiction in books and other media. His second passion was Harry Potter. During a trip to London, England, where he furthered his knowledge in Theater and the Arts, he had the privilege of seeing Platform 9 ¾ at Kings Station. Of course, in true Keith fashion, he had to take a picture of himself in front of the platform to prove to everyone he had actually been there.
Keith loved spending time with his family, having family game nights, reading and watching action movies. He also loved to torture his wife by telling all the ways her favorite John Wayne movies were historically inaccurate. He is survived by his wife, Angela, their 4 children and 7 grandchildren. Shanda, her husband James Whatley, Cory and his wife Chasity Porter, Joshua Porter, Bre and her husband Dustin Hoyt, and 7 grandchildren; Ashlynn, Brandon, and Cameron Whatley, Cora and Caydi Porter, Shiloh Porter and Kieran Hoyt. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Northwood Church in Longview, Texas.
Service is at Northwood Church 4367 Tryon Road, Longview, Texas under Ron Peacock at 1p.m. Food and refreshments will be the home of Keith and Angela Oliver at 197 Markhaven Dr. immediately following the service.
