Kee Comer's Obituary
Katherine (Kee) Martin Comer passed away quietly on March 27, 2014, after a lengthy illness.
Kee was born August 1, 1932 in Henderson, Texas. After graduating from Longview High School in 1949, she earned a degree in Music Education from North Texas State University in 1953. Returning to Longview, she married her high school sweetheart Bobby Comer, in August of that year. Kee remained in Longview the rest of her life, where she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a Camp Fire Girls Leader. She worked to develop musical talents in her children, and led family and friends into forming a Recorder Consort, which enjoyed some little demand during the early 70’s at area churches and clubs for Christmas concerts. In addition to these activities, she was a member of the Junior Service League of Longview, where she provided music therapy for children, and later worked at the Bargain Box, as well as raising her children and caring for her family. She also played oboe in the Longview Symphony Orchestra before retiring from public life to concentrate spoiling her grandchildren.
Kee was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred Young Martin and Link Brian Martin of Longview, and her husband of 47 years, Beryl Robert Comer. She is survived by her children, son Steve Comer & wife Karen, daughter Susie Dulweber and husband Mark, and son Scott Comer; and by grandchildren Katie, Bethie, Matthew, Esther, & Paul Comer, Karen Strachan of Memphis, TN, Rebecca and husband Henry Leineweber of Portland, OR, Ellen and husband Logan Miller of Hallsville, TX, and Hank & Julia Comer of Austin, TX.
Services will be held at 10 am on Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel. Burial is to be at Rosewood Park, next to her beloved Bobby.
