Kathryn Evelina Planas' Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kathryn (Kathy) Evelina Planas, a devoted Jehovah Witness, beloved daughter, sister, and friend, who left this world on December 22, 2023, in Longview, TX. Kathy was born on August 10, 1951, in San Antonio, TX, to her parents, Gabriel Planas Jr and Alice Sequeira. She was a graduate of Canyon High, New Braunfels, Texas, Class of 1969.
Kathy will always be remembered for her kind spirit and gentle nature. She had a warm smile that could light up a room and a compassionate heart that touched the lives of all who knew her. Despite facing disabilities, Kathy lived her life with grace and courage, inspiring those around her with her resilience.
A happy point in Kathy’s life was when she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1980. Since then, in spite of severe health issues, she spent many hours sharing her love of the Bible with people she met.
She is preceded in death by her mother Alice Sequeira Stoeltje, and brother Eugene Planas. She is survived by her grieving family; her father, Gabriel Planas Jr and Stepmother Peggy, and her sister, Marie Planas Cooper and husband Bill, brothers Gabriel Planas III, Patrick Planas and wife Patricia, George Planas, and Jason Planas and wife Leanne. Also left to carry on her memories are her beloved nieces and nephews, Jannice Urban, Richard Urban, Laura Urban Oglesbee, Stephanie Planas, Dawn Planas Wallace, Dana Planas, Rex Planas, Pierce Planas, Kimberly Planas Jenke and Kevin Planas, as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. The memories of Kathy will forever be cherished by her family and friends, as they reminisce about the moments shared and the love received.
In honor of Kathy's life, a memorial service will be held April 6, 2024, at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Longview, Tx at 10:30 AM, where those who held her dear will gather to pay their final respects and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.
As we lay Kathy to rest, let us find solace in the memories we shared, the laughter we enjoyed, and the love we felt in her presence. Though she may be physically gone, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace, knowing she was cherished and loved beyond measure.
