Kathleen Shelton McBride's Obituary
On May 9, 2023, Kathleen Louise Shelton McBride left this earthly life for her eternal home in Heaven. Kathy was 70 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and June (Pollet) Shelton and one brother, the late Dr. Robert B. Shelton. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Sharon Shelton Keese, and one beloved son, Jon Claud McBride. She also leaves behind one daughter-in-law, Kelly McBride, and one granddaughter, Anabell McBride. Jon is serving in the US Army as a physicians’ assistant and is stationed in Italy. Kathy is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews including Benjamin, (Dr. Deena) Shelton, of Longview, and Bonnie, (Collin) Ford of Frisco.
She was born November 19, 1952, at the Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview. She was a graduate of LHS Class of 1971 and the Kilgore College School of Nursing Class of 1973. Those who knew Kathy will remember her vitality and love for nursing. Also worth mentioning was her beautiful singing voice and artistic ability with charcoals and watercolors. Kathy shared her talents in numerous church choirs and weddings and was very active in The Longview Civic Chorale and The Longview Community Theater. Although she enjoyed playing in many roles at the Theater, the one memory she cherished most was playing Anna in “The King and I”.
The Family would like to thank the entire staff at Whispering Pines Lodge for allowing Kathy to live her life in a loving, stable environment. The family also is grateful to Dr. Hong Shen for his gentle care. The family kindly asks that donations be made to Mental Health America or the charity of choice.
