Katherine Betsy Nichols' Obituary
Mrs. Katherine Betsy Nichols passed away in the early afternoon of February 20, 2025 in Longview, TX. A visitation will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday March 8 at the Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel with a graveside service following at 2:00pm.
Katherine was born in Rosenberg, TX on May 24, 1936 to parents Stephen and Frances Michulka. Following her high school years, she moved to Dallas with her sister where she met and married Marine, Bobby Joe Nichols. As they were stationed around the country, Katherine gave birth and raised their daughter, Debra as well as completed a degree in accounting in California. After, Bob’s retirement from the military and the police force, they moved back to Texas where they helped raise their three grandchildren. Katherine retired from the accounting department at Texas Eastman in 1996 after 19 years of service.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Joe Nichols of Longview, TX, parents Stephen and Frances Michulka of Rosenberg, TX and sister Virginia Vaughn of Fayetteville, AR. Katherine is survived by her brothers, Thomas and Raymond Michulka of Rosenberg, TX and sister Elizabeth Hicks of Staunton, Virginia and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her daughter, Debra Williams of Longview, TX, her grandchildren Chris Williams of Tyler, TX, Katherine Barrier and her husband Donnie Barrier of Bullard, TX, and Freddy Sheppard and his wife Morgan of Lindale, TX, great-grandchildren Abigail Barrier and William Barrier of Bullard, TX and Liam Sheppard of Lindale, TX.
