Katherine Elizabeth McEvoy's Obituary
After a two year battle with cancer, Katie was called away from all here who loved her by One who loved her more, to be awarded the wings and halo she rightfully earned. An angel on earth to all who knew her, she now will spend eternity as an angel to watch over us all. She was dearly loved and admired by those blessed to know her. Throughout her illness and treatment she showed amazing courage and faith, teaching us much about living according to God's word, even choosing experimental treatment "so other kids with cancer have a better chance of surviving, even though I won't." Katie had a tremendous capacity for love of all living things and was happiest when around friends and family. She enjoyed planting flowers and trees, caring for her pets and other animals, and giving to others. Many aspects of her brief time with us were a living testimony of the phrase "What Would Jesus Do?" . She loved going to church and Sunday School learning about Jesus and enjoyed the various mission projects done by her Sunday School classes. She served as the kid engineer to start the trains at Northpark Mall in Dallas to raise funding for the Ronald McDonald house of Dallas for the 2001 holiday season. She was also a child model for the Children's Cancer Fund Fashion Show in Dallas in both 2001 and 2002 and was happy that she was able to help raise funds for childhood cancer research by doing so. Katie liked going to school, learning new things, and spending time with her classmates and teachers.
Katie began her earthly journey in life on June 18, 1992 in Columbus, Missisippi and began her eternal life December 7, 2002 surrounded by her famiy at ther home in Longview.
