Katharine Odile Waggoner's Obituary
Katharine Odile Waggoner, age 74, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas. Services to honor her life will be held on February 2, 2024, in the Mausoleum Chapel at Rosewood Park in Longview. Visitation will be held at 1:00pm with a graveside service to follow at 2:00pm.
Kathy was born May 13, 1949, in Kingsport, Tennessee. Her family moved to Longview in 1954. She often shared fond childhood memories of riding horses with her friends and siblings. After graduating from Longview High School in 1967, Kathy earned her associate degree from Gulf Park College in 1969, where she was a member of Gamma Psi sorority. She went on to graduate from BMI School of Business and began working at Eastex Welding Supply. It was where she met the love of her life, Troy William Waggoner, Jr. After a whirlwind romance, they married on August 25, 1973. Kathy was a loving and devoted wife and mother to their two children, and a generous and loyal friend to many. She was a member of the Junior League of Longview, and the Women’s Bowling League. Kathy had a deep love for all animals and nature, especially horses and her dogs. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved playing games with her friends. She spent the last decade of her life in Keller enjoying time with her granddaughters, who were the highlight of her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Troy William Waggoner, Jr, parents Hugh and Elizabeth Hagemeyer, and brother, Michael Hagemeyer.
She is survived by her daughter Alicia Whitehead and husband Sonny of Keller; her son Jeff Waggoner of Dallas; her sister Betsy Simon and her husband Mike of Waco; her grandchildren Madelyn and Makenzie Whitehead, of Keller; 2 nieces,1 nephew and their families.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Huntington’s Disease Society of America or your favorite animal charity.
