Kate Haywood Robinson's Obituary
Kate Haywood Robinson was born on March 6, 1928 in Americus, Georgia. She died on September 8, 2008 in Webster, Texas following a brief illness. Mrs. Robinson graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, where she studied religion and music. She was the third generation of women in her family to graduate from Wesleyan. In 1951, she married Alfred G. "Robby" Robinson and together they raised four daughters. In 1958, they settled in Longview, Texas, where they lived until Dr. Robinson's death in 2004. Mrs. Robinson was a charter member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Longview. Following Dr. Robinson's death, she moved to Friendswood, Texas and became a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in La Marque, Texas.
Mrs. Robinson had many close friends throughout her life. She especially enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed music, gardening, cross-stitching, and reading. She remained interested in current events throughout her life. She was particularly interested in young people and very supportive of youth ministry in her churches. She was a gracious and kind woman who spoke only well of others. She was always respectful and encouraging to those around her. She remained thankful all her life for the love of her parents, her husband, her daughters and their families, and so many close friends. She was a devoted wife and the most loving and generous mother and grandmother. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great granddaughter. Like her husband, Mrs. Robinson deeply loved her God, her family, and her community. Like him, she leaves a legacy of faith and integrity that comforts us and will continue to guide us into the future.
Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by her parents, William Haywood and Sarah Hodge Haywood, her husband, Alfred G. "Robby" Robinson, and her brother, William Haywood Jr. She is survived by four daughters, Sarah Flick and her husband Bob Flick, Kathy Timmons and her husband Tim Timmons, Grace Chan, and Frances Eldreth and her husband Rick Eldreth. Her surviving grandchildren are Laura Chan Phillips and her husband Travis Phillips, Tyler Chan, Anna Eldreth, Bryan Eldreth, and Katie Flick.
