Helen Keller said, "My friends have made the story of my life." My school days in Gilmer with my classmates are a great part of that story. June was part of that story. We use to have long conversations sitting on the steps during recess or lunch. Those were fun times. June was like a ray of sunshine, always cheerful and smiling. June called me one morning after we had graduated from high school to ask me how I spelled my middle name. I told her and she said that she was naming her daughter who had just been born after me. That was the biggest compliment I have ever gotten. We went from 1st grade through high school together and later enjoyed some good visits when I would come "home" to visit.
