Julius Lehman Geistman's Obituary
Julius Lehman ?J.L.? Geistman died Sunday, September 11, 2005 in Longview, Texas after a brief illness. He was 87. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2005, in the Rosewood Mausoleum Chapel at Rosewood Park Cemetery with Rev. Mike Lindstrom of Winterfield United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Veterans? Garden at Rosewood Park.
J.L. was born March 30, 1918 in Cyclone, Bell County, Texas to Albert William ?A.W.? and Minnie Lehman Geistman. He graduated from Abilene High School and attended Hardin Simmons University where he met the love of his life, Inez Lollar. They were married June 7, 1938. During World War II, J.L. honorably served his country as a master sergeant in the U.S. Army. Following the war, J.L. was a small businessman and a farmer. Always a Texan, his business and farming interest had J.L. and Inez living in Harlingen, Rio Hondo, Lubbock, Levelland, and settling in the late 1970?s in Longview. In his retirement years, J.L. spent many hours as the unofficial technical advisor to customers at Hardin?s Tru-Value Hardware.
J.L. was truly part of the ?Greatest Generation.? He was very private, dedicated to his family, strongly principled, and always ready to help someone in need and never focused on himself. He was a devoted husband and a strong, nurturing leader as a father. He cherished his granddaughter and lavished upon her many works of love through his hand-made furniture. He loved nature and growing ?things?.
J.L. is survived by his wife, Inez Lollar Geistman of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, Gerry and Dale Woods of Grapevine, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Jan Geistman of Llano, Texas ; granddaughter, Natalie Geistman also of Llano; sisters, Gladys Hall and Clara Weir, both of Abilene, Texas and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd.
