Julia was born in Hobart, Oklahoma, on February 29, 1932, and adopted by Herbert and Bessie Hensley. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 3, 2016. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband H.L. and her daughter-in-law Teressa. Left to cherish her memories are her son David and his wife Connie, her son Dan, grandson Aaron and his wife Jillian, and her granddaughter Carey Ripley and her husband Donovan. She was blessed with two very close friends: Gloria Fiorillo and her husband Bernie of Newtown, Pennsylvania, and Beverly Cropper and her husband Nick of Longview.
Julia and her mother moved to Oxnard, California, after the death of her father to be with her aunt. She worked as a PBX operator while attending college. Gifted in musical arts, she was a very talented pianist and organist. It was in Oxnard at a USO dance where she met a Navy seaman H.L. who was stationed at Point Magu, California. They married in 1952 and happily celebrated 54 years together before his passing. She helped put H.L. through college and was a constant support during his career in the oil industry. After David and Dan were in school, she went to work for East Texas Bank and Trust as the switchboard operator. In 1977, H.L.’s job transitioned into drilling, moving around the country, before ending up in Odessa, Texas. They enjoyed each new area and the different things each region had to offer. Julia and H.L. began collecting antiques and Depression glass, in hopes of opening an antique store of their own one day. When H.L. retired in 1993, they settled down on Lake Cherokee. One of Judy’s greatest loves throughout the years was her dogs. Always fond of Spitz and her mix breed fur babies that brought her great comfort, especially after the passing of her husband in 2006.
