Judy Morris' Obituary
Judith (Judy) Brock Morris of Longview, Texas passed away on May 4, 2026 at the age of 86. She died peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Judy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known for her quick wit and unwavering love for her family.
Judy, who was the eldest of two daughters, was born to Oliver and Vivian Brock in New Orleans, Louisiana. She loved to share stories of her childhood growing up, where she was surrounded by a large extended family. She learned many life skills from her paternal grandmother, lovingly referred to as Nanny, who cultivated a love of sewing, gardening and fun in Judy.
Judy graduated from Dominican High School and continued her studies at Loyola University, where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration. In 1952, Judy met the love of her life, Jules Morris. They courted for several years during their time together at Loyola and married in August of 1961. Jules and Judy shared a beautiful life together for 59 years, serving as an example of unconditional and devoted love. Together they raised five children: Jay, Brock, Mark, Anne, and Amy. They centered their family on their Catholic faith, devoting their lives to service of their family, church, and community. The loss of her father early in life made Judy intentional about developing strong family bonds. Her children treasure their mother’s involvement in their daily lives and interests. She was always found cheering them on at sporting events, sewing costumes for Halloween, and baking cakes and cookies for celebrations. Her dedication and love for her family served as an example for each of her children and set the foundation for the growth of a beautiful extended family.
Outside of her home, she was dedicated to serving and supporting the Church and local community. Judy served on both the St. Mary’s Home and School Association Board and the St. Mary’s Catholic School Endowment Fund, and could usually be found volunteering in the halls of the school. As the choir director of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Youth Choir, Judy shared her love of music and the Catholic faith with countless teenagers and young adults over the years. She also volunteered for many years with St. Vincent de Paul Society. Education was very important to Judy and she was a tutor at the East Texas Literacy Council for several years. When her children were grown, she began a fulfilling career as the office manager for the Junior League of Longview. She always spoke fondly of her years at the League and the friendships she forged there.
While Judy hardly ever missed a Lobo, Aggie or Dallas Cowboy football game, her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren who affectionately called her Mimi. She treasured the annual family beach week, where evenings were spent playing cards and enjoying each other’s company. She loved sharing her creative interests in painting, writing, cooking, knitting, and sewing; always attentive to learning what each grandchild was most interested in. Her favorite art medium was watercolor, creating beautiful florals and landscapes that her family treasures as mementos. Her recipes have been handed down to her children and grandchildren, although no one can bake as well as Mimi. She was skilled with a sewing machine as well as with a pair of knitting needles, and she could create almost anything from a few yards of fabric or a ball of yarn. Her grandchildren fondly remember all the hours spent in her kitchen, sewing room, or living room learning from Mimi, a kind and gifted teacher.
Judy leaves behind a legacy of love to her family and those that knew her. She will be greatly missed.
