Bro. "Slim" Sullivan was my favorite preacher when I was a young boy. He was my pastor and he baptized me. His influence upon me to serve the Lord Jesus Christ was tremendous.##imported-begin##Charlie Faulkner##imported-end##
Ben and I attended Calvery Baptist Church when we lived in Longview several years ago. Brother "Slim" was the pastor who we loved dearly. He gave a beautiful sermon at Ben's funeral.
God's Blessings to the Sullivan family.

Many years ago, a friend shared some taped messages by Bro. Sullivan. They spoke to my heart! Bro. Sullivan's messages were Biblically based and delivered in a forthright and helpful manner. He was a giant in the faith to this young minister. God bless you family! I am happy for Bro. Sullivan!##imported-begin##Wayne Whiteside##imported-end##
Brother Sullivan was the pastor at Calvery where my family attended church for many years. He also performed the funeral services for both my mom Colleen Howell and my father Joe Howell. He was a wonderful man and will be welcomed into the gates of heaven with open arms and be able to do the Lord's work in many new ways.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family!
Love always in Christ... Jodie Carlson##imported-begin##Jodie Howell Carlson##imported-end##
Brother Slim tuly was a Man of god. And, I can tell the world he & his precious wife visited the Rest Homes-I know for I saw them there OFTEN! Let me phrase that a little different, he & his wife were in a Class of their own when it came to visiting the dear Ones in the Rest Homes. One of the few
Couples I was priileged to see there. Over & over I hear it Passtors don't visit the Rest Homes. Well, Bro. Slim with his wife DID! I know Bro. Slim led many to the Lord for HE LIVED HIS
RELIGION. Heaven has gained another Angel. May his influence
live on forever for he was a true
blessing to mankind. I loved him & I love his precious Widow.##imported-begin##Millie Terry Harper##imported-end##
Dad and I want to let you know our prayers are with you. When I got the news, I called him in Magnolia to let him know, and we both spent an exteded time on the phone sharing great experiences we had with Bro. Slim. Dad says he was the "Pastor's Pastor". To me he was the one that reached out and lead my granddaddy Buck to the Lord! It's been an honor and joy to know the Sullivan family. I know how it hurts loosing a parent, but I know that we all are joyfull in the fact that they are in the presence of the Lord and suffer no more!!##imported-begin##Randy and Charles Baskin##imported-end##

Like so many others, we both cherish the fact that we were fortunate to grow up in Longview and Calvary Baptist Church. As our pastor, Brother Slim was a powerful influence, in our lives, as we were growing up. We feel very sad to know he has passed away. The values we have today are a direct result of our families and the hundreds of Brother Slim's sermons we both heard through the years. He was tough, but he was good. Personally, I'll never forget one Sunday evening service when I was in about the 9th grade. I leaned over to whisper something to a friend, and he asked us to stop talking from the pulpit! I thought I was going to die from embarrassment. I never talked in church, again. He was a big man with a powerful voice, and he got my attention. Even though he didn't actually travel with us on youth choir/mission trips, he successfully led the adults who organized all those amazing memories for us. Brent especially cherished his days participating in R.A. basketball. Calvary Baptist holds a very special place in both of our hearts. May Brother Slim rest in peace.
