Joyce Wallis Thompson's Obituary
Joyce Thompson of Lake Cherokee passed away peacefully in Longview, Texas on March 3, 2018 at the age of 65. Joyce was born on May 31, 1952 to Thurman and Ann Wallis in Idabel, Oklahoma. She moved to Longview in 1964 from Idabel. Joyce was a 1970 graduate of Spring Hill High School. She and her late husband, Darrell resided at Lake Cherokee for 40 years. Joyce was a charter member of East Texas Treasure Hunters Association of Longview for over 20 years. She had an ardent interest in Native American archaeology, as well as searching for Native American relics.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Darrell, and sister, Shirley Boyd.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters Linda Morrow and her husband Eddie, Vicki Thompson and her husband James; brother-in-law Danny Thompson and his wife Karon; aunts Donna Garrett, Bernice Owens, Gail Wallis and Betty Wallis; uncles Lawrence Owens, Jerry Owens, and Jimmy Wallis; nephews Todd Harrington, David Boyd and his wife Cheri, Jim Morrow and his wife Tracie, and Brian Morrow; nieces Jackie McFadden and Christi Burks; numerous great nieces and nephews, friends and family.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 10, 2018. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Danville Cemetery in Kilgore.
