Joy Ellen Carroll Wilson's Obituary
Funeral services for Joy Ellen Wilson, 62, of White Oak will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Saturday, August 27 at 10am. A visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Joy went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 22, 2016.
Joy was born on August 13, 1954 in Austin TX, to parents J.D. and Mary Carroll. She found the Lord and was saved in 1968 at the Trinity Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor R.D. Wade. In 1972, Joy graduated from McCallum High School, and then attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield MO, where she graduated in 3 years with a teaching degree. She moved to Kilgore in 1977 to work as a teacher, and later attended LeTourneau University, studying Psychology. Joy always led a very active life; she served as a teacher, and coach for cheerleading, volleyball, basketball. Joy was married in 1978 and soon became a mother to 4 wonderful children.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Mary Carroll and her sister, Marylan Carroll. Those left to cherish the memories of Joy include her children, James Wilson of Rowlett, TX., Jennifer McClanahan and husband Ruben of Longview, TX., Janna Graham and husband Jared of Longview, TX., and June Davenport and husband Edward of Flower Mound, TX; she is also remembered by her 7 grandchildren and her brothers Jon and Jay Carroll, both of Cisco, TX.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Longview House of Hope in Joy’s name.
