Joy Evelyn Boles Williams' Obituary
Joy Evelyn Boles Williams passed away at home in the Concord community on Saturday, May 30, 2009, around 10:00 a.m., surrounded by her family. She died in the new home that she had moved into exactly one year after her former home, her birthplace and the home of her parents, burned to the ground.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Asa Monroe and Della Mae Boles, son Tommy Williams, and sister Vivian Brooks. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Earl Williams, daughters Pat Milam and Randee Oliver, son-in-law Mark Oliver, grandchildren Kurt Milam, Craig Milam and wife Sabrina, Sedra Milam, Lana Milam, Paul Oliver, Ryan Oliver, and Alyssa Oliver, great grandson DeMorte, sister Cecile Threadgill, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Joy loved music and was church pianist for many years--first at Morgan Avenue Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, then at First Baptist Church in Mt. Enterprise. She also loved to travel and made 3 trips to Europe and several trips in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. She had a good mind for business, having worked in the oil and gas business with her father for many years. Joy graduated from Stephen F. Austin and taught elementary school in Eagle Pass, El Paso, Corpus Christi, and Sinton. She was also loved for her sense of humor. She had the wonderful gift of making the most mundane situation into a funny story. Her contagious laugh was great medicine for her family and friends. She was devoted to the Concord community, in southeastern Rusk County, the home of her family, the Boles, Dennard's and Phillips. After she and Earl retired and moved back to East Texas, she served as trustee for the Concord Cemetery Association for many years.
Services will be held June 2 at First Baptist Church in Mt. Enterprise, TX at 11:00 AM
