Joy Cockroft's Obituary
Joy Nell Cockroft, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 6, 2023, surrounded by the love
of her family. She was 39 years old (or 81, but she stopped
counting).
Born August 13, 1942, in Fort Worth, Joy was the daughter
of James Andrew Green and Zora Mae Green Flansburgh.
From a young age, her heart was filled with an unwavering
faith and a radiant joy that would define her life.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years,
Charles Cockroft. Her son, Mike Cockroft and wife, Angie,
of Mount Enterprise, TX; Daughter, Lita Wilkinson and
husband, Gary, of Henderson, TX; Son, Scot Cockroft and
wife, Angela, of Prosper, TX; Her grandchildren, Brittani
Thomeczek and husband, Justin; Mandi Holmes and
husband, Corey; Brendan Cockroft and wife, Madison;
Corey Wilkinson, Ashley Wilkinson, Blake Lazaro, Reagan Cockroft, Ethan Lazaro, Chase Lazaro, Camryn Lazaro, and Jude Cockroft; Her great-grandchildren: Zoey Olivia Thomeczek, Henry Thomas Holmes, Connor Joseph
Thomeczek, Avery Joy Holmes, Brooklyn Marie Cockroft,
Ellie Paige Thomeczek, Hunter Cole Thomeczek, and
Charlotte Grace Cockroft; and sister Billie Webb.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister
Barbara, and two nephews.
Joy and Charles first crossed paths as children at
Northside Assembly of God. Their love blossomed through the years, and they made a sacred commitment to each
other in the very same church where their love story began
on April 3, 1959. Together, they weathered life's storms,
celebrated its joys, and stewarded the wisdom God gave
them to raise their three children.
Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her love,
wisdom, and values into each of them. It was widely known
that if you asked Joy to pray, she would pray without
ceasing. Her boundless joyfulness and silliness were a gift to everyone who came into contact with her. It was
impossible to talk to her without sharing a laugh or being uplifted by her infectious spirit.
Joy Nell Cockroft's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, family, and a little bit of butter. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
