Funeral services for Joy Ann Kemp will be held Thursday morning, September 15, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home, Killen, AL. Phillip Owens will officiate. Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Longview, TX, Friday, September 16, at 4:00 pm with her son-in-law, Dwight McGee officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, evening from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at Elkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kemp was an accomplished seamstress. She made clothes for her daughter and granddaughter. She was a wonderful homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Elgin Hills Church of Christ.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Edwin Brown and Lena Kennedy Brown; brothers, Albert and Charles Brown and her only son, Louis Evan Kemp in 1970.
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, John Evan Kemp of Killen, AL; daughter Deborah Kemp McGee and husband Dwight of Killen; sister, Frances Rogers of Longview; brothers, Henry Louis Brown and wife Mozelle of Tyler, TX, and Ben Brown and wife Joyce of Bridge City, TX; grandchildren, Isaac McGee and Katharine McGee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Richardson, Henry Hall, Jerry Beavers, Larry Wells, Danny Narmore and Glenn McGee.
The Kemp family would like to thank all of Joy's friends who offered their prayers for her during her illness.
