Josephine "Jo" Boice's Obituary
Josephine S. Boice of Longview died early Saturday morning, April 16, 2005, at Good Shepherd Medical Center, after a lengthy and courageous battle with heart disease, she was 84.
Mrs. Boice was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on March 10, 1921, the youngest of four children.
Her parents, John and Anna Kubick were first generation immigrants from Eastern Europe, looking for and finding prosperity in America. Following World War II she married Carl L. Boice, and the young couple moved to Houston, Texas where they found a permanent home in Longview in 1953. She was married for forty-nine years.
An active member of the First Presbyterian Church for over fifty years, she cherished the lifelong friendships established there. She was also an active member of the Delta Mu Phi Sigma Alpha women?s sorority and the Garden Gate Club. She enjoyed the past 3 years at Buckner Westminster assisted living where activities and friendship brightened her days.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; brothers and sister, Mary, Michael and John Kubick of Pittsburg, PA. Mrs. Boice is survived by her daughter, Carol Caldwell and her husband, Marshal; son David Boice and his wife, Nancy and four wonderful grandchildren, Chris Caldwell, Latricia Malone and her husband, Rodney, all of Longview, and Douglas and Kristen Boice of Hilltown, PA.
A service celebrating her life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Monday, April 18, 2005 at 12 Noon with Reverend Jonathan Jehorek officiating. Entombment will follow in Lakeview Mausoleum.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 1006, Longview, Texas 75606.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6-8 PM.
