Joseph Michael Jacobs' Obituary
Joseph Michael Jacobs was born in Jackson, Tennessee. At age 5, his family moved to San Juan Capistrano, California where he spent the days playing in the Pacific and attending class at the San Juan Capistrano Mission School and forming lifelong friendships with Heritage High School mates and church family.
At age 16, two significant events occurred: Mike placed his faith in Jesus Christ as the Savior of his soul and continued to study God’s Word throughout his life, and he fell in love with flying after taking private lessons.
Mike graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1973 and selected the US Marine Corps for service since they promised him an aircraft career. Having served 7 years followed by a short break in service, the US Coast Guard offered him a flying career with them and away he flew!
Mike served an additional 20 years flying both fixed wing and helicopters for a total of eight aircraft in addition to being credentialed to train both ATP & HTP students.
He relished singing as a member of the US Naval Aviation Choir while stationed in NAS Pensacola, traveling, and performing at events such as Fleet Week in New York, Good Morning America, and Miss USA Pageants. After retiring to Lake Cherokee in 2003, he continued to sing in southern gospel quartets and church choir.
Mike’s memory remains to be treasured by his beloved and devoted wife, Robin (Brown) Jacobs, two fine sons, Christopher and Bryan, daughters in law Angela & Samara, along with granddaughters Emma & Piper. Mike is also survived by special niece Jordan, nephew LTJG Zach Brown (USN), loyal brother-in-law Don Brown. Aunt and Uncle, Doris & James Davis. Cousins Tim & Mark Talley; Rebecca & Brian Davis. Mike will also be missed by a host of friends in his neighborhood.
Graveside services will be 11 am Saturday, March 30, 2024 at New Hope Cemetery near Henderson, Texas.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartsway Hospice.
