Joe was my friend. When we first met, we were flying for different companies. He was the gruff veteran, and I was "the kid". It amused him that I would come over to his hangar to fool around with his Vic 20 computer. To him, it was just a weather tool; to me, it was a machine of amazing possibilities. So, you could say that Joe helped put me in the computer field. I was surprised and honored when he sought me out for computer help a decade after the flying was over for us both.
Joe was not only honorable, he was humble. When I started calling him Ancient Pelican after a character in a favorite movie of his, "The High And The Mighty", he concluded that he didn't deserve the title, instead calling himself "Old Buzzard".
Joe was a real prince of a guy, and a friend I hope to get to know much better in "the sweet by and by". Miss you terribly, Joe. See you later.##imported-begin##Steve Comer##imported-end##
