Joseph Bevill Baucum, Jr. was born in Haynesville, Louisiana on September 6, 1937, to Joseph Bevill Baucum, Sr. and Helen Elizabeth Hines Baucum. He was the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Henry Baucum and the great-nephew of Dr. Arthur Read Obituary
Dr. Baucum was more than a boss to me~he was a teacher, a friend & one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. As his Dental Assistant, I learned so much from him. He took the time to teach me everything I knew about assisting, always with patience.
Years later, I ran into him & he was proudly carrying an 8x10 photo of his first grandchild, beaming with joy.
We’d often see Dr. Baucum & Barbara at Posado’s on Wednesday nights. He always greeted me with a hug that made me feel remembered. Those simple moments meant so much.
He will be deeply missed~not just in the dental community, but in all the lives he touched. I know I’ll miss seeing him out at dinner, always with that warm smile & his Baylor hat.
Joe meant the world to me and my family and so does Barbara. We know he is greatly missed but each of us will see him again in our heavenly home. He was a joy to know and an awesome Lifegroup leader. You Are Loved

Joe was a friend to me, always friendly, keeping me laughing after we had talked only 20 seconds. We all felt at ease with Joe. Several times at church I have listened to Joe pray - I have always been impressed with the prayers he lifted up. His prayers were meaningful and left you feeling that he was really in touch with the LORD. Joe was an example we need to follow.

My friendship with Joe was connected to First Baptist Church. I remember how he would pray for a group and how it moved me to hear him pray, and that really stuck with me. The other thing about Joe was you could not be around him for 30 seconds without laughing! He brought out the best in all things and all people. What a wonderful example for all of us to follow.

Dr. Baucum was my dentist for several years. After Dr. Norman W. Black retired, I moved to Dr. Baucum. I remember once I needed a bridge made and he remembered that my brother was a dental lab technician. Dr. Baucum asked if I wanted him to make my bridge. I was honored and still have the bridge today. My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the Baucum family.
What an amazing man Joe was. We met him when we were both affiliated with an herbal company (Enrich) in the later 1990s. We enjoyed leadership conferences together and became long distance friends. He living in Longview and my husband, Marty, and I north of Dallas. We would call each other from time to time over the years and catch up with what we were doing and our families. Such a great guy! He will be missed.
