Joseph Fred Albertson's Obituary
Joseph Fred Albertson, 75, of Longview, Texas, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, August 24, 2019.
Fred was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, October 23, 1943, to parents Fred and Letha Albertson.
In 1972, Fred married the love of his life, Bettie, and embraced 10-year-old Sean and loved and raised him as his own son. Fred and Bettie were married 39 years until her death in 2011.
Fred was an exceptional provider for his family, he excelled at and enjoyed his work. He retired from WW Grainger after 28 years of employment. He loved his job and the people he worked with. After retiring he maintained many of those friendships.
Fred served in the Army National Guard from 1962 until retiring in 1982.
Fred had a loving, giving heart and could make anyone laugh. His sense of humor was one of his dominant qualities. Fred will be missed deeply by many, but we know he is safely in the memory of our Creator who will fulfill his promise stated in John 5:28, 29 where Jesus says “The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will…come out.”
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Dawn Albertson, grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Ryan and Korie Albertson and his granddaughter, Lauren Albertson.
He is also survived by his sisters, Helen Smithson and husband Buddy, Mary Love, and husband Charles, Sharon Roberts and husband June; along with his nieces: Susan Smithson, Priscilla Logue, Amy Roberts, Melissa Geurian and nephews Michael Love, Matthew Smithson and Jacob Roberts.
Fred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bettie Jo Albertson; nephew, Jeremiah Geurian and his parents Fred and Letha Albertson.
A commemoration of Fred’s life will be held between the hours of 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, August 29th at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. There will also be a graveside service Friday, August 30th at 10:00 am at Rosewood Park Cemetery.
