Joretta Rose Muntz's Obituary
Joretta Rose Muntz went to meet her heavenly father on February 10, 2022. Joretta was born on June 16th, 1938, in Gregg County Texas where she would spend most of her life.
A graveside service will be held at Gum Springs Cemetery on Monday, February 14, 2022 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 to 1 p.m. Monday prior to graveside.
Joretta is survived by her five children, Sharon Fletcher, Joseph Branch, Catherine Branch, Richard Branch and Joni Duke. 14 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband James Charles Muntz and her mother Ollie Bell Rose and father Cecil Rose and stepfather John Barker. She is survived by her brothers Kenneth Morgan and Jimmy Don Rose. She is preceded in death by her sisters Darlene Watts and Sue Dell Madden.
While a truly East Texas girl, Joretta also had an adventurous spirit. As a teenager, she once took a train to New York and paid the cab driver to take her to Central Park, Times Square, and to other sites and attractions until she boarded a ship to Germany where she would reside for a small amount of time.
Most days Joretta could be found in the kitchen cooking up something in the always-busy kitchen with James sitting at the table, drinking his coffee, entertaining whoever was there. Her house was always busy with visitors and family almost any time during the day.
Known as Me-maw to her grandkids, they remember her red hair, big smiles, and sitting around the kitchen table playing Yahtzee and Dominoes with her and Papaw.
Joretta will always be remembered as honest (even to a fault), faithful, humble, and a stubbornness and silliness that will carry on in us all. She will be dearly missed.
