Johnny Mike Lummus' Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Johnny Mike Lummus, age 80, of Longview, Texas. Johnny departed this life on Thursday evening in a local nursing home, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, warmth, and adventure. Born on December 11, 1944, in Henderson, Texas, he was the beloved son of Charles and Elaine Lummus, who preceded him in death.
Johnny's life journey took him through many remarkable chapters, beginning with his time as a heroic firefighter for the Longview Fire Department from 1974 to 1978. His passion for service led him to a fulfilling law enforcement career, where he faithfully served various counties in East Texas until his retirement in the late 1990s. Known for his courage and commitment, Johnny was a respected figure in his community.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Johnny found joy in the great outdoors. An avid deer hunter, he relished the thrill of each season and cherished the quiet moments on the water while fishing. His love for cars and his skills as a mechanic in his early years highlight his hands-on spirit and enthusiasm for life.
Johnny is survived by his son, Donny Lummus and wife Jill Lummus; his daughter, Angela Jackson and husband Rick Jackson; his brothers, Tony Lummus and Billy Lummus; his sister, Charlcie Haltom and husband Tommy; and his cherished grandchildren, Stephanie and Tiffany Lummus, along with Keeley, Samuel, and Kennzie Jackson.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 12 PM to 1 PM in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1 PM, where loved ones will gather to honor and remember Johnny's remarkable spirit. He will be laid to rest at Neely Cemetery in Henderson, Texas, where he will forever find peace.
