Johnnie Mae Mooney's Obituary
Funeral services for Johnnie Mae Mooney, 86, of Longview, will be
held at 10 AM Friday, May 20, 2005 at Trinity Episcopal Church
with Father Kevin Wittmayer officiating.
A private interment for family only will follow under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6-8 PM.
Mrs. Johnnie Mae Mooney was born in Omar, West Virginia on May 1, 1919. She is a long time resident of Longview having moved from Kingsport, Tennessee in 1951.
She attended Ashville Teachers College in Ashville, North Carolina.
Mrs. Mooney was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher, leader of an altar guild group and was active in many church functions.
She is a past president of the Good Shepherd Hospital Auxiliary Guild and compiled many hours of service. She was also an active member of the Texas State Hospital Auxiliary.
Mrs. Mooney started the Good Shepherd Gift Shop using a show case donated by Hurwitz Men?s Shop. She performed as purchasing agent for the shop as it grew into its present size in a room donated by the hospital.
She was a member of the Longview Museum , Prelude and a charter member of Longfellows.
Mrs. Mooney was honored by Longview Bank and Trust in the Longview News Journal?s ?People Who Make A Difference?.
Mrs. Mooney was preceded in death by her husband, E. J. Mooney and is survived by her son, Ted Mooney, Jr.; daughter, Margaret Mooney; daughter in law, Mary Martha Mooney and granddaughter, Elizabeth Mooney; grandson, Edward Mooney and great grandchildren, Grayson and Spencer Mooney.
