Johnnie Pate Bassham's Obituary
Funeral services for Johnnie Pate Bassham, 79, will be held at Mobberly Baptist Church on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 10 AM. Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 6-8 PM. After her courageous battle with ovarian cancer, Johnnie went to be with her Lord in the evening of July 1, 2017 surrounded by her family.
Johnnie was born on August 4, 1937 in Cookville TX to parents Rev. Cleo and Mabel Pate. Her love for working with children grew into for more than 20 years with the Pine Tree ISD as an instructional aide with special education students. Johnnie also had a lively personality and never met a stranger, hosting many church family and friends at their home particularly in their time of need. The love that Johnnie “Nanaw” had for others paled when compared to the love that she had for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. C.W. and Mabel Pate, and her brother Rae Pate. Those left to cherish their memories of Johnnie include her husband of 59 years, Delwin Bassham; daughters Carla and Bryan Haygood, Lisa and Mike Brown and Vicki and Rob Argabright; grandchildren Jerod and Whitney Haygood, Jordan Haygood, Ashley Brown, Allison and Ryan Bell, Everett, Payton, and Landry Argabright; great-grandchildren Micah, Adelyn, Eli, and Jude Haygood; sisters Pearline Davis and Priscilla McCanlies; brother Gerald Pate; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flower, memorial contributions may be made to Mobberly Baptist Church - Engage 10K program (http://engage10k.org/giving/).
