John Leroy Zeigler's Obituary
On Wednesday, January 17th, 2024, John Leroy Zeigler, our beloved father and friend passed away at 86 years of age. Born to Leroy and Nelda Zeigler of Longview, Texas on April 12, 1937, John was a lifetime resident of Longview where he worked in the insurance industry for over 60 years. John was a loving and devoted father and husband, and a faithful and loyal friend to so many throughout his entire life. He touched countless lives with his giving and sacrificial heart, his charm and his sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Margaret, wife Deborah Zeigler and stepson Chad Downey.
He is survived by his sons: David Zeigler and wife Liz of Plano, Jeff Zeigler and wife Barbara of San Marcos, Mark Zeigler of Dallas, Michael Zeigler and wife Lauren of Brock, stepson Chris Downey and wife Kim of Austin; grandchildren Abigail, Nathaniel, Peyton, Carter and Elliott, and great-grandchildren Johan, Daniel and Dakota.
Memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, Heartisan’s Marketplace, or Newgate Mission, all of Longview. Visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home in Longview from 5-7pm on Thursday, February 8th and a Memorial Service will be held at 1:30pm at First Presbyterian Church in Longview on Friday, February 9th, with reception to follow.
