John Wesley Williamson's Obituary
John Wesley Williamson, 85, of Mansfield, passed away September 25, 2022. He was born on July 10, 1937 in Gilmer, Texas to Margaret and Louie L. Williamson.
John grew up in Spring Hill and was a proud graduate of Spring Hill High School. He earned his Bachelor of General Science in 1959 from East Texas State where he was a member of the Tejas Fraternity. He also received his Master of Counseling in 1966. In between earning his degrees, however, John served our country in the United States Army.
Upon graduating from college, John took a job as the El Centro College registrar and he worked there until he was asked to move to the newly opened Cedar Valley College as the Registrar and Director of Admissions. He retired after 36 years of service to the Dallas County Community College District. Some of his many honors includes being a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, being named a Spring Hill ISD Distinguished Alumni, and a Retiree Hall of Honor Administrator of the year for Dallas County Community College.
John was a devoted father and grandfather who loved beyond measure and always put his girls first. He was the most generous, giving man and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for anyone in need.
John was very active in church throughout his life. He loved the outdoors and kept busy golfing, fishing and working outside. In his later years John developed a love of building birdhouses, cultivating plants, and Wii bowling.
John is preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Louie.
Survivors include daughters Kristi Pickard and husband Rodney, Kerri Wells and husband John, grandchildren Kyle and Ryan Pickard, Natalie, Kaitlyn and Jackson Wells.
