John W. ''Shorty'' Keltner
Funeral services for John W. ''Shorty'' Keltner, 86, of Lake Cherokee will be held at 10 AM Friday, March 8, 2002 at Trinity Baptist Church in Lakeport, Highway 149, with Dr. Gary Orr officiating. Masonic rites will follow in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Thursday evening, March 7, 2002 at the funeral home. Mr. Keltner was born on September, 6, 1915 in Idabel, Oklahoma to Terrance and Mary Belle Keltner. He passed away Tuesday morning, March 5, 2002 in a Longview hospital.
He graduated from Longview High School and was a member of the Longview Lobo football team when they won the high schools only Texas state football championship. A Longview resident since the early 1930?s, Mr. Keltner worked for U.S.I., Garrett Oil & Tool, was a Mason with the Longview Masonic Lodge, and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Mr. Keltner was preceded in death by his parents, and his loving wife Audra E. Keltner. He is survived by his brother, G.W. Keltner of Fort Worth, Texas, three nephews, Ken Keltner of Mineola, Charles Stetzel of Houston, Dwain Keltner of Canton, and nieces, Sharon W. Stetzel, Debbie Blue, Pamela Lowe, and Kaylene Keener.
