John Wesley Nutt's Obituary
John Wesley Nutt, Sr.
John Wesley Nutt, Sr., 88, was called home to Jesus on March 23, 2010. He was born September 6, 1921 in Corsicana, TX to Olbry Bruce Nutt and Sybil Huskey. He grew up in Corsicana, where his father was Chief of Police. On January 21, 1940 he married his childhood sweetheart, Juanita Kathleen Gravatt, and together they began a family that grew to be one of their greatest joys. He worked in the iron foundry industry holding positions at Oil City Iron Works of Corsicana, Kelly Plow of Longview, and eventually he retired from Harris Industries of Longview. He was a diligent and hard worker who would never ask someone to do a task that he himself wasn't willing to do right along side. After he retired he continued working with his hands, creating things with wood and "piddling" around in the yard. He had a knack for growing things and really enjoyed cultivating beautiful rose bushes from tiny cuttings.
Mr. Nutt was an active member of Mobberly Baptist Church. He attended his Sunday school faithfully and very much enjoyed the company of his teacher Ed Roberts who continued to visit him when he was unable to make it to church.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Juanita Kathleen Nutt and his brothers: Fred Nutt, Wendell Nutt, and "Babe" Nutt, Jr. Mourning his loss but rejoicing in his homecoming are his siblings: Marguerite Dowd, Mariella Ellington, and Rufus Nutt; his children: Larry Nutt and wife Jan, Diane Bower and husband Jerry, Johnny Nutt and wife Merilyn; his grandchildren, Amy Kiggen, Robin Best, Jamie Andrews, Judie Bower, John Nutt III, Michael Nutt, Cyndi Brumit and 14 Great ?grandchildren.
The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to John and Mary Shaw. Your love and friendship was cherished by both John and Juanita. Granddaddy especially valued your visits over the last several years.
The family will receive friends Friday March 26, at Rader Funeral Home from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be 12:00 pm Saturday March 27, at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home 1617 Judson Road with Pastor Randy Carter officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
