John W. Wilder's Obituary
Mass of Christian Burial for John W. ?Jack? Wilder, 85, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Saturday, October 6, 2007 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with Father Gavin Vavarek officiating. A Rosary will be recited Friday evening at 6 PM at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home. Mr. Wilder passed away Tuesday evening in a local hospital. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends Friday evening after the Rosary.
Mr. Wilder was born on January 2, 1922 in White River, South Dakota to James Edward Wilder and Mary Ellen Coyle Wilder. He attended the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, SD where he received his bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering. After graduating, Mr. Wilder worked on the Manhattan Project in Oakridge, TN. He then went to work for the Eastman Chemical Company where he worked as a Chemical Engineer until he retired. He was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church and loved volunteering as an Ombudsman at Summer Meadows Nursing Home. He also loved playing Duplicate Bridge and enjoyed his wide circle of friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Allen Wilder.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Wilder; Daughter and Son-in-law, Alice and Bruce Smith; Son, Mark Wilder; Daughter and Son-in-law, Mary and Don Bailey; Step-Children, Glen Haywood and Linda Bailey; 5 grandchildren; 1 Brother William Wilder; and 1 Sister Therese Wilder Ryan.
