John W. Horne's Obituary
Graveside services for Mr. John W. Horne, age 89 of Henderson, will be held at 10:00am Monday July 21, 2008 at Rusk County Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. David Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of the Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Mr. Horne died in Longview July 18, 2008 from injuries suffered in a car accident on June 9, 2008 near Timpson, Texas.
He was born Sept. 14, 1918 in Chipley, Florida. He grew up in Pensacola, Florida, after graduating from the Gulfcoast Military Academy in Gulfport Ms . in 1939 he moved to Overton Texas to work in the oilfield. There he met his wife Annette Brightwell , who preceded him in death. Mr. Horne was a retired self employed rancher & welder. He was a captain in the U.S. Army having served in World War II, and the Korean War, he was also a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include sons Billy Horne of Conroe,& David Horne of Lake Cherokee, daughter Jo Ann Theriot & husband David of Lake Cherokee. Grandchildren Lea Ann Theriot and Craig Theriot of Longview, and Karen Mooney of Dallas.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Hairston, Shelby Lynn Johnson, Royce Lynn Johnson, Laverne Gibson, Scott Keith, Craig Theriot, and Jerry Ballow.
The family will meet friends at the funeral home from 6pm until 8pm Sunday.
