John Sidney Hines' Obituary
Memorial services for John Sidney Hines, 74, of Longview, will be 10 AM Saturday at Elmira Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Reverend James Canty officiating.
Mr. Hines passed away on Thursday, September 30, at Good Shepherd Medical Center.
John was born November 14, 1935 in Gilmer, Texas to Sidney and Elsie Stephens Hines. He received his Bachelors Degree from East Texas State University and his Masters Degree from Oklahoma State University. John retired after 32 years with Eastman Kodak as a chemist. He was a member of Elmira Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church and had been a elder at the church. He loved playing his guitar, country music, fishing and was an avid Lobo and Texas football fan.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Carole McFarland of Longview; daughters, Nancy Susan Thomas and husband Eddie of Tyler and Barbara Diane Farnham and husband David of Hallsville; sons, John Neal Hines and Don Sidney Hines and wife Pam of Lindale; grandchildren, Lisa Martin and husband George, Whitney Wyer and Sydney Liberty Hines and a great grandson, Kipton Wayne Wyer.
