John Russell Blanton's Obituary
John Russell Blanton was born May 14, 1974 in Henderson, Texas to William Bill Blanton and Jean Clark Blanton and he departed his earthly home October 12, 2008 in Conroe, Texas. John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Henderson and had made a profession of faith at the age of nine. John attended Henderson High School and graduated from Kilgore College. He loved computer technology and worked as an IT tech for 3TEC Energy and Petrohawk Energy for several years before joining the U.S. Army. He was proud to serve as a military policeman with the 101st Airborne, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He completed a tour of duty in Iraq before being honorably discharged for serving his country.
John loved to help others and usually volunteered to do more than was asked of him. He was a man of his word and prided himself in being honest and straight-forward. His friends will long remember his kindness and love of adventure.
Leaving behind to cherish his memory is his wife, Leticia, and children, Jonathan, Jessica, Taylor, Andy and Nick of Conroe. John's parents are Bill and Jean Blanton of Henderson. Surviving maternal grandmother is Corene Clark of Henderson and special uncle and aunt, Harold and Lois Wesson of Henderson.
Family members preceding him in death include maternal grandfather, Russell Clark, paternal grandparents, Ancel and Willie V. Blanton.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Rader Funeral Home at one o'clock with services following at two o'clock with Rev. Bill Tisdale officiating. Interment will follow with burial in Rusk County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers include Tony Minsquero, Chris Rhudy, Bill Hendrix, Brent Duncan, Dana Ashby and Lance Haynes.
