I sat beside John in many classes at Kilgore when we were both earning our police science degrees . Greatest friend a person could have! I even rode with him a few times on patrol and learned so much from him. His spirit lives within all of us as we carry his teachings. He was truly an ambassador to not only law enforcement, but to everyone who knew him. Thanks John for everything you gave me. Buddy LaPrade, Dallas County Marshal Service.

Mr. Presley was an outstanding instructor at the Police Academy. We always thoroughly enjoyed his stories from his time on the force. I had him as an instructor in 1995 in Kilgore and a few times for mandated training. He was one of the instructors that will always stand out in my mind. May God bless and comfort the Presley family.

John was probably one the most easy going, laid back individuals I have ever known in law enforcement. His teaching skills at East Texas Police Academy were always an enjoyment while you actually learned from him. My deepest condolences to his family. It is an honor and privilege to have called him a colleague and friend. He will be missed but fondly remembered.
