John Ben Perry's Obituary
Graveside services for John Ben Perry, age 75 of Henderson, will be held Monday January 7, 2019 at 11:00am at the Strong Cemetery with Rev. David Luckert officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
John Ben was born August 21, 1943 in Henderson to J.B. and Mary Isabel Perry and died Friday January 4 in Plano. He had worked for SWEPCO for many years, but had also worked for Cothron & Taylor Funeral Home and Bryan Funeral Home. In 1978 he became a full time employee of Bryan Funeral Home where is was an assistant funeral director and manager of the emergency ambulance service. In April of 1988 Henderson Memorial Hospital took over the ambulance service, and John Ben became the manager of the service for many years. He was also active in many organizations such as the Laneville Lights, Bikes for Kids, Coats for Kids, Fans for the Elderly, The Red Cross, and the Henderson Rescue Unit. John Ben was a longtime member of the Churchill United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ed, Wayne and Wilton Perry.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Geniece Perry, daughters Susan Roy and husband Dean of Henderson, Melissa Thomas and husband Darin of Henderson, grandchildren Ben Roy, Aaron Roy, Raelin Roy, Christa Thomas, Weston and Trenton Thomas, sister Rena Kate Smith and husband Orea, brother in law and sister in law Ray and Jean Fryman.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm until 4:00pm Sunday at the Funeral Home.
