John Paul Campbell
Funeral Services for John Paul Campbell, 82, of Longview will be held at Noon Wednesday, September 25, 2002 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, with the Reverend Phillip Jones officiating. Entombment will follow in Rosewood Park?s Mausoleum.
Mr. Campbell was born on June 12, 1920 in Tarkio, Missouri to Andrew and Sylvia Campbell. He passed away on September 22, 2002 in a Gilmer nursing facility.
Mr. Campbell proudly served his country with the United States Air Force during World War II. He married Nellie Miller on October 17, 1942 and would have enjoyed his 60th wedding anniversary next month. They lived in San Antonio before coming to Longview in 1958. He worked at Riff?s Lady?s Wear Department Store, where he was in charge of advertising, gift buying, and window displays. People came from all over East Texas to enjoy his windows during the Christmas season. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Longview where he was involved in the Loyal Men?s Sunday School Class, he was a member of the Civitan Club, and the East Texas Wood Carver?s Association. Mr. Campbell loved to hunt and fish, especially in his younger years with his father, and later enjoyed wood carving.
Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Forrest Andrew Campbell, Verne S. Campbell, and Edgar D. Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Nellie Campbell of Longview, daughters and son-in-law, Catherine and Lynn Saunders of Longview, Carolyn Campbell of Dallas, two grandchildren, Cristi Saunders of Longview, and Jeremy Paul Saunders of Longview.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM Tuesday evening, September 24, 2002 at the funeral home.
