I'm sorry I am overseas and could not attend John's funeral service. Please accept my sympathy I share with you in the loss of John. He was a very dear friend to me while I worked in the legal field in Longview and always assured me that I would be OK when I had rough times a few years ago. John will forever be my friend... I'm sorry for what happened and my prayers are with the Thomas family.

Please accept my condolences upon your loss of John Nay. I am a native of Longview. One of John Nay's cousins, Jimmy Thomas, has been a lifelong friend. When I was 16 in 1970 Jimmy's father, Sam, hired me at Food City. It was there that I first met John Nay. He was always very nice to me. I looked up to him and thought he was a very "cool" guy. George may remember me. I have been a guest in the family home on several occasions many years ago. I finished at LHS in 1972 and then went on to Louisiana Tech. I remember that John Nay was really pleased when I told him I had pledged ATO at Tech, so we were fraternity brothers as well. Afterwards we lost touch, but I did see him at Jimmy's wedding in 1977 I was an usher or groomsman...I don't remember exactly and again at Louisiana Downs in 1985. I am so sorry to hear about him. My wife and I are deeply saddened to learn of John's death. We have never met but I felt compelled to write and express our heartfelt condolences to you and your children for your loss. We had occasion to meet John two years ago and to negotiate an option on some land we own here in Shreveport. We were struck by John?s honesty and his generous way with people. John differentiated himself from most people in real estate by adhering to the highest level of integrity in his dealings with us. We had several common acquaintances in both real estate and the oil and gas business and I can tell you that every response I received was most complementary in praising John. Again, please accept our deepest regrets as we have all been diminished.

John and I were best friends in high school. Although I haven't seen him since, I kept up with him somewhat through my father who still lives in Longview. I am very saddened to hear of John's untimely death and I deeply regret that we never rekindled the friendship we had in high school. You and your family have been in my prayers since Monday.
