Big John Mobley: The party ain’t over yet
John William Mobley, 63 born on August 28, 1954, in Shreveport, LA, to the late Hugh and Marjorie Mobley. He is survived by wife and co-captain of 37 years Christine C. Mobley (née Hayes). He is also survived by daughters, Brandi Mobley, Amanda Mobley, and his grandchildren Aaliyah, Amarie and Armani Mobley.
The youngest of seven children, John grew up with 3 loving sisters and 3 older brothers. In 1972, John graduated from Southwood High School. While maintaining a long term relationship with his beloved shovelhead Harley and accompanying lifestyle, he provided and supported his new family. From Kmart in New Orleans where he met his wife, Chris, to Jacksonville, FL where they married on February 29, 1980. Back in Shreveport/Bossier in 1981, John worked in warehouse management for Ben E. Keith, Conagra and Dutch Quality until 2001.
John spent his remaining years manning the house, mastering vegan cuisine and providing personal driving services for Chris and Aaliyah. He enjoyed his motorcycle, road trips, music of many genres at window shaking levels, John Candy, Jim Belushi and banana pudding. His favorite time was time spent with his wife, daughters and grandkids.
After a years of treatment and keeping his TCB attitude, John lost his battle with lung cancer on January 21, 2018.
Memorial service will be held at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, TX on Saturday, January 27 at 10 a.m. In lieu of sending flowers, the family asks for donations in his name to Hiway 80 Rescue Mission, http://www.hiway80rm.org/ or 3117 W. Marshall, Longview, TX 75604.
