John Morris McIntosh's Obituary
John Morris McIntosh (Daddy Mc), 82, went to be with Lord on October 2, 2017. A celebration of his life will be at 11am Thursday, October 5, at New Beginnings Baptist Church with Pastor Connor Bales and John’s friend and life group leader, Roger Carr, officiating the ceremony. Visitation will precede the ceremony at 10am. John lived in Hurst, Texas for 35 years and has been a resident of Longview for 18 years.
John was born August 28, 1935 in Caddo, Oklahoma which he referred to as much like the town of Mayberry in the old television show, Andy Griffith. Both of his parents were hardworking and joyful people who preceded him in death; Kimbrough Overstreet McIntosh and William Edward McIntosh. He had three very loving and supportive siblings with whom he is rejoicing in heaven with today. The oldest sibling was Lois Nation and her husband James, William (Dub) McIntosh and his wife Bonnie, and Mary Ray and her husband Gordon. He was the last of his immediate family to pass away and loved being the baby of the family.
He married Lois Darlene McIntosh on December 28, 1961 and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage together. They have one daughter, Melissa Haney and her husband Keith which John considered to be the son he never had. His two granddaughters, Hope and Hannah, were the light of his life.
John completed high school at Caddo High School in Caddo, Oklahoma, but what he did not complete in education, he made up for in hard work and loyal friendship. John retired from the Texas Highway Department after 38 years of faithful service. The greatest gift John ever gave was his friendship, and he had many friends. If you were ever his friend, you were his friend for life. John passed away a content man who loved Jesus, his family and his friends dearly.
John’s generosity and selflessness extends past his life. It was his desire to donate his body to science so that those who are living could learn something about Parkinson’s disease, hypothyroidism and dementia, so perhaps others would not have to suffer the way he did.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Gideons International, so that the Gospel of Jesus Christ may be glorified and shared throughout the world.
