John Lamar Rutledge
John Lamar Rutledge, 38, of Longview, died peacefully in his sleep in Longview, Texas on Saturday, August 26, 2006, from complications of pneumonia. He was born on March 31, 1968, in Dallas, Texas, to George Griffin Rutledge, Sr. and Mary Ann Stout Rutledge. His father preceded him in death on August 11, 2006. John graduated from Pine Tree High School in 1986, and was injured in an automobile accident that same year. His parents have lovingly cared for him at their home for almost 20 years. John is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Rutledge of Longview, one brother and sister-in-law, George, Jr., and Brenda of Hernando, Mississippi, a nephew, Cody, also of Hernando, and his caretaker, Greg Flynn, of Gilmer. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends who visited him regularly.
Visitation will be at Rader Funeral Home in Longview on Monday, August 28, 2006, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville, Arkansas. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery in Blytheville. The ashes of his father, George, will be interred with John.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children?s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
