John "Johnny" Milton Eaves' Obituary
John Milton Eaves was received peacefully by our Lord in the early morning hours of January 25, 2025 following a fight with dementia and long history of strokes. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his son Barry and grandson Parker of Longview, and daughter Carlotta, son-in-law Jerry, granddaughter Corinne, and grandson Cole of Southlake. He also leaves behind his sister, Charlotte Morey and her husband Mike of Little Rock, cousin Alice Poore of Kansas City, and many other dear cousins, nephews, nieces, great nieces, and great nephews, as well as treasured friendships over many states. He is preceded in death by his wonderful wife Linda of 56 years and they are holding hands again. He is also preceded in death by his mother Geneva, father TC, and brother Tommy and they are now united again in Heaven.
He grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas and dated Linda in high school. Both of their families attended Oak Forest United Methodist Church. He joined the Navy following graduation and was stationed in Nice, France. He was in France when he called her to ask for her hand in marriage (while his brother Tommy held the engagement ring Johnny had picked out!). They were stationed in Boston and then settled in Longview – and never left. He joined the dental industry and became a certified dental technician, opening his own business and working sun up to sun down. Every summer we went to Lake Greeson in Arkansas for a long weekend with family friends, learning to water ski and camping in tents. He also made sure we had a family vacation over Christmas for the one week he closed the dental laboratory. He was a devoted and loving father. His heart swelled when he became PawPaw to the 3 grandchildren, and he cherished spending time with them and attending every soccer, football, and lacrosse game he could make it to. He and Grammy never missed a birthday party either to celebrate the kids!
Johnny definitely felt the need for speed from high school on, and he enjoyed muscle cars from a young age, drag racing with his brother and best friend, Randall. Later he developed a passion for Corvettes and joined a local Corvette club. He looked forward to big driving trips each year, all around the US, with some of his most fun friends.
He enjoyed helping others and felt drawn to shop for and purchase new bicycles every Christmas for children who may not otherwise have one. He also spent countless nights on cots with Linda at Greggton helping with the homeless ministry and playing with the children. He was a member of Ambucs for many years also.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donation's in Johnny's name be made to:
