Dear Susan,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. There is not a month that goes by when I don't think of your mother and father. I first got to know them when Joann would meet your father at the OWL Drug for lunch 2 or 3 times a week. Your mother always ordered a peanut/butter and jelly sandwich. I always enjoyed visiting with them and could listen to your dad talk for hours. I once went to visit Joann and before I realized I had stayed for 2 hours, we had so much fun visiting the time just flew by. Be strong and know people who new your father will never forget him. I'm deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Stempel, known more commonly as "Poppy" by the folks like me who were fortunate enough to know him as the father of Susan and the grandfather of Sarah, John, Chris and Mark. He was a one-of-a-kind man, a world-travelled man, and one who was always generous with personal anecdotes of his experiences and happy to give advice in all areas of life. My experiences within the inner circle of his family are full of memories of his relaxed yet insightful commentary on his life and travels. I will keep his memory, and his family, in my thoughts, and wish everyone a peaceful time of grievance and mourning.
