John Terry Hamilton's Obituary
John Terry Hamilton, 64, was born October 24, 1952 and passed from this life surrounded by family on October, 9, 2017. He was born in Decatur, Alabama to John Whitaker Hamilton and Julia Bailey Hamilton. The bulk of his formative years were spent in Tampa, Florida where he met his future wife while they were attending Florida College. They married in 1975 and soon after moved to Longview, TX. Terry and Jerri were married for 42 years.
Terry wore many hats during his adult life with the most recent being a hot shot driver for DSG. He loved his work, allowing him the ability to see much of Texas and the United States. He will always be remembered for his incredible work ethic and willingness to help others. He could often be found "playing" on his tractor which included riding his grandkids around the neighborhood. For many years Terry was an active member of the Judson Lion's Club. He was also a good Christian man and attended Reel Road church of Christ. He loved his brothers and sisters in Christ deeply and appreciated the prayers and support they provided during his illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jerri (Hunter) Hamilton; son, Brett Hamilton of College Station, TX; daughter and son-in-law Leah and Thomas Riley of Huntington, TX; grandchildren Luke and Sophie Riley; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bob Brunck; sister-in-law Terri Lanphear and husband Donnie; brother-in-law Gary Hunter and wife Stacy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Devin Brecheen for going above and beyond the typical healthcare provider/patient relationship. Thank you as well to Dr. Socoteanu and the entire staff of Texas Oncology - Longview as well as Cassie Elias and Ginger Miller with Heart to Heart Hospice for your excellent care during the last year.
