Funeral services for John F. ?Jack? Friton, 87, will be held at 10 AM Thursday, May 20, 2004 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, 1617 Judson Road. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at the funeral home.
Mr. Friton was born on February 5, 1917 in New York City to George and Ellen D. Friton. He passed away on May 17, 2004 in Longview.
A Longview resident since 1966, Mr. Friton was the President of Longview Manufacturing until retirement in 1982. He was a member of the South Longview Rotary Club, Pinecrest Country Club, Summit Club, and Cherokee Club.
A loving father, grandfather, and friend, Mr. Friton was preceeded in death by his wife, Bernice J. Friton. He is survived by his sister Gladys F. Shelton, son and daughter-in-law John E. and Nancy S. Friton of Chester, MD; daughter Joan F. Slick of Albuquerque, NM; granddaughters Natalie E. Friton of Annapolis, MD, Carolyn A. Friton of Arlington, VA and Katherine A. Slick of Albuquerque NM; beloved friend Jean Cox of Longview; and the special friends in the ?Pitts Puddle? birthday group.
David Watts, Minister Church of Christ, officiating. Pallbearers will be Ralph Beeker, William Dennis, Ed Gray, Bailey Salmon, Duane Smith, Max Wilson and honorary pallbearers are K. P. Braswell and Harold Turner.
