Dear Callie, Margaret, Chuck, Nancy and all,

We are so sorry that we are not able to be with you at this time, but our thoughts are there. As John's little brother, I probably have more memories of a wonderful person at a special period in our lives than most anyone else around. John Taught me how to drive a car. John tried to get me to learn how to play the piano. John set me on my career at the University and helped me decide upon my field of study. He was more of an influence than he was perhaps aware himself. I will always be grateful and miss him very much. Richard

Dear Callie, Margaret, Chuck, Nancy, and family,

I am sorry I couldn't be with you today to celebrate Uncle John's life. While we know the joy at knowing that he is home with the Lord now, there is still sadness at his loss for he was loved. You're all in my prayers.

As my dad has aged in recent years, he talks more and more of his and John's sailing adventures. Let's gather all those wonderful stories one day soon. My own memories of John are mostly from childhood when the whole family still lived in Minnesota. I wish I could have known him better in my adult years. I remember him with love.
