John Dykstra's Obituary
A memorial service for John Dykstra, 84, of Longview, formerly of Burbank, Illinois, will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at Oakland Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Roberson officiating. Services in Illinois will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 4, 2003 at Memorial Baptist Church in Oaklawn, Illinois with Pastor John Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Chicago.
Mr. Dykstra was born October 24, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois and was a member of the Oakland Heights Baptist Church having just moved here from Burbank, IL and Memorial Baptist Church of Oak Lawn. He was a 25 year employee of the Museum of Natural History of Chicago.
John is survived by his loving wife, Annabel of Longview; stepchildren, Barbara Roberts of St. Petersburg, FL, James A. Roberson of Conroe, TX, Joyce de la Ossa of Santa Rosa, CA, Tom Roberson of Longview; brothers and sisters, Clarence Dykstra of Cicero, IL, Louise Medena of Orland Park, IL, Betty Tameling of Braidwood, IL, Fred Dykstra of Lansing, IL; a number of nieces and nephews, 11 step grandchildren and 15 step great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Benevolence Fund at Oakland Heights Baptist Church.
