John David Benson's Obituary
Interment services for John Benson, 75, of Longview will be 11:00 am Wednesday, June 18th at Rosewood Park Cemetery. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Pat Sparks officiating. Mr. Benson died Sunday evening at a local medical center.
John was born July 2, 1932 in Bayard, Nebraska to James Calvin and Dorothy Waggoner Benson. He graduated from high school in Ada, Oklahoma and received his B.S. and M.B.A. degrees in general business from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
He joined Texas Eastman on Nov. 7, 1960, as a personnel assistant in Industrial Relations and later was made an industrial relations representative, then a senior industrial relations representative before being named director of Professional Employment & Wage Administration. He later became director of Employment and Wage and Salary Administration, then director of Wage and Salary Administration. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Longview and served as a first lieutenant in the United States Air Force.
John was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Letty. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Tanya Benson of Dallas, Brian and Jamie Benson of Chicago, and Kyle and Mary Carroll Benson of Houston; his granddaughters, Taylor Grace and Maci Lynn Benson of Chicago, and Caroline Stewart Benson of Houston.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Tuesday evening 7 to 9 pm.
